What Size Storage Unit Do I Actually Need? A Room-by-Room Guide

The single most common question we get at the front desk isn't about price or access — it's "how big a unit do I need?" And it matters more than people think, because guessing wrong is expensive in both directions.

Start by thinking in rooms, not square feet. A 5×5 holds the contents of a small bedroom minus the furniture. A 10×10, our most popular size, comfortably takes a one-bedroom apartment. A 10×15 handles a two-bedroom home, and the big drive-up 10×20 and 10×30 units fit a three-to-five-bedroom house.

The trick most people miss is stacking height. Units are eight to ten feet tall, so a well-packed 10×10 holds what a badly-packed 10×15 does. When you're genuinely between two sizes, size up — but only by one.
